Philanthropy - How Many Think It Is Important

Ask anybody this question and I guarantee you that you will hear everyone agree that it is very important. You will hear sermons about how if all the people who are well off give something back, then the world would be a much better place. If you were to ask yourself the question and follow that question up with what was your latest contribution to society, I’m betting you like me will end up searching quite a bit.

This is why it is important to appreciate and honor people that serve and enrich people either monetarily or by actions, be it volunteering or performing a well intentional service that will in turn improve and enlighten the lives around us. It is because of these people that there is hope for a million people down on their luck.

In my line of work I’ve had the opportunity of meeting many that have actively worked to serve the community without any expectation. I met one such person today, Jim Thompson. Jim Thompson is the CEO of Orix and in addition to his hectic work schedule, works tirelessly for a number of charitable organizations.

I will follow up this post with a list of charitable organizations that are looking for support from all of us. I hope we find it within ourselves to lend a hand.

Update: While I will publish a list of charities as promised, here are some additional details of some of the charities that Orix as a company supports. Infact they have a seperate organization called Orix Foundation in which Jim Thompson, Orix Foundation board member is part of and helps guide the vision and mission of the foundation.

United States To Reward North Korea For Nuclear Declaration

Filed under: General — Isko Roberts @ 4:12 pm

It seems that the traditional rivalry between United States and North Korea has taken a turn for the better. These latest developments are the result of North Korea subjecting to US Demands on Nuclear Proliferation and subjecting and revealing secrets of their much vaunted nuclear program to the United States.

North Korea has declared their nuclear arsenal and this is a positive step taken by North Korea to help and mend bridges with the US. The United States is now considering lifting the sanctions it currently has on North Korea. This matter is now before Congress and is expected to be dealt with soon.

The US President George Bush is obviously elated at the turn of events. Both the president nominees Sen. Barak Obama and Sen, John McCain were cautiously optimistic on the latest efforts made by North Korea to get into the good books of the Unites States.

R. Kelly is the Grammy award winning singer, song writer and record producer. R. Kelly has been fighting these charges for the past six years. The nine men and three women that made up the chicago jury decided to give R. Kelly the benefit of the doubt and just cleared him of all charges. With the case finally being decided in his favor, R.
